Description

Howdies, ya'll! Well, the climax of season 3, Monster war, is about to begin. I recommend you stick by this page and visit it often, as a good deal of details can be obtained here. The story will progress from here without stopping, so you'll need to start the story from here, in case you started looking at any future entries. I guess, to start off, I'll explain my monster choices. One, Burtannus is, like Bagorah, a monster from the Dark Horse Godzilla comic. In the comic, burtannus kind of reminded me of a mole, but I needed something.... tougher. So, I took elements from the creature that resembled Burtannus the most in the animated series, at least to me, the giant Thorny Devil. Well, that's all for now. Enjoy. -j-

Monster War

part 1: bring the HEAT!

"You are... Monique Dupre, I presume?"

"Fortunately for you, I am. What do you need?"

Eric had been interviewing the entire Zilla group for quite some time, and he already knew what to say. Monique seemed surprised at the topic.

"If you want to know about that, I think there are a few more qualified people to ask. For one, there's Dr. Niko-"

"We've spoken. As well as the rest of your little band. Elsee, Mendel.... Randy."

"I see. Why would you come to me then, when they have already told you everything?"

"You're the only one left, and I'd like to get your point of view. What happened after the fight with the griffon?"

"Well, I had accomplished my mission at the time by investigating that base where the silver blob came from. So, I was simply told to wait until we were found, and to move to the next town to be easier to spot. So, we walked for a few days. Not only Zilla was following us, though. That big bat had seemingly decided to tag along as well.

We arrived in the next town, tired and ready for a good rest. Zilla and the bat were told by Nick, and they could somehow understand him, to hide out in the desert. After a few days, my contact arrived. He spoke of new orders, orders that would be very challenging. We were to leave in two days, which were spent buying food, new clothes, and supplies the rest of the group thought they needed. And so, once again, they all had to cram into the cargo area of a truck, and we drove to our next destination."

Monique was cut short by a crashing sound in the next hallway, and a strange scream that seemed unearthly familiar. But, the noise died down, and she began to resume the story, only to be interrupted by a familiar voice.

"Monique? My word, it is you. What are you doing here?"

It was Nick, still wearing the white labcoat. The two looked genuinely surprised to see each other. Eric wasn't sure why.

"How could you guys be surprised? I mean, the whole teams here. Aren't you guys together?

Nick and Monique looked at Eric, confusion and disbelief crossing their faces.

"I guess not. Well, anyway, please continue Monique."

"Continue what?" said Nick. "The Zilla incident?"

"Monster War, Nick. He's asking about monster war."

A knowing, pensive look darkened Nicks features. He nodded.

"Well, if you don't mind, I'll continue. We left in the truck, and traveled for a couple of days, Zilla and the bat flitting in and out of sight. We went west, towards the new order, of which nothing was revealed when I asked. But, plans were cut short.

As we were driving down a desert road, we didn't expect there to be a military blockade. We also didn't expect them to look in the back, spotting our fugitives."

Nick looked away, as though an unpleasant memory crossed his mind.

"We were detained like the criminals we were called. I attempted to escape that night, though, but I didn't know a giant reptile had already beaten me to the punch."

Nick suddenly stepped forward, putting his hand on Moniques rather muscular shoulder.

"I think I should talk from here. There are things only I learned that night."

She had no problem with this. In fact, to Eric, she looked a little relieved to no longer bear the burden of telling.

"Well, as she said, Zilla freed us by breaking our cell walls. The military, of course, started to take action. I know Zilla wouldn't attack unless provoked, so I had to stand between them. It really wouldn't do much good, but I had no choice. It was then that the man in charge, Hicks, of all people, told his men to stand down. Hicks, who we worked with in New York, was actually glad to see us. He called us inside of his mobile command center, where he told us some interesting news.

San Francisco was on lockdown. Not because of one monster, but several. Turns out, an eco-terrorist group, calling itself SCALE, had emerged in the city with a veritable army of monsters. Hicks already, we found out, been promoted twice to general for his service against other monsters they had rounded up weeks before. But, he said to us, all of our little band, that he'd like our help. The people of the nearby towns, and a few hunters taken in for questioning, described us as a group of heroes, and that Zilla would do exactly what I say. And then he asked us if we would aid in the operation to take back San Francisco.

We were given guns, smoke bombs, and all sorts of equipment, alongside the equipment Monique's 'contact' left us. We looked like a band of soldiers once suited up. Armed, and with Zilla at our side, Randy then said what would become our team name."

"Time to bring the HEAT!"
