File 22 Oarmystasis

Published:
1.3K Views

Description

Incorporeal Oarman

Length: 170 meters

Weight: 22000 tons

Abilities:

-A Speedy Swimmer, faster than Oddpodge but slower than Martellan

-Retractable 'Oars' are actually similar to snake fangs in internal structure, but are controlled by fine muscles across its body, allowing it to propel itself faster through the water, and can function as hypodermic needles, injecting venom into a constricted victim

-Tongue structure allows for an odd, low yet powerful frequency 'sonic hiss' capable of causing ear damage and internal bleeding, especially in envenomated individuals

-Venom cocktail is surprising, for when the 'sonic hiss' is performed, the enzymes in the cocktail group together as an unstable vibrating solid, causing massive internal injuries

-Intelligence is debatable, but assumed high

Weaknesses:

-Unable to take extensive punishment

N.F.M.R. Case File # 19

Oarmystasis

What can I say that all the British News groups haven't already? There were many reports from companies of mixed repute going on about a 'mysterious shadow' seen in the English Channel, some tabloids (yes I check those) claimed it was an ancient Norse Myth come to life. Now, I don't presume to be an expert on the Nordic, but that big sea snake sure knew how to make an entrance.

Like nothing I'd ever seen, really. Just as Ragido and that big puffer Fugulodon were getting ready to leave after the fight with that man o war Siphog, a massive banded Sea Krait slithering in from the Thames river commanded the monsters attention. Not sure what happened really, they just stared at each other, and then the snake went back the way it came, Ragido following. Fugulodon disappeared in a light similar to the one several monsters before him disappeared in, only for that big Hammerhead Shark Martellan to appear in it's place, swimming out after the serpent as Ragido seemingly . . .oh, this is gonna sound crazy. . . evaporated.

So, with no more reason to stay in jolly ol' England, Reed, myself, and a young artist/journalist/ whatever else she called herself I don't really care named Emma Lancaster that decided to follow us Monster Chasers, packed up and went down to France, which was the beginning of a rather odd journey that would take us to just about everywhere on earth this job hadn't led us already.

Frank Seltzer

We met Emma, who would join our merry little research team later, in the process of finding a place to stay. She was one of the few people following Siphog, taking notes and sketching the creature as she saw it, though Frank said that her perspective totally sucked. . . and may I say the two of them did not hit it off. . .

She followed us nonetheless, seeking a more exciting life, but that snake would lead us places I'm not sure we wanted to go. Africa was crazy enough in terms what we were seeing, but then the island. . .and Australia to boot. Frankly, there's just too much to talk about to fit it in this small space, but the snake would guide Ragido, and through Ragido, ourselves, for quite some time. . . but now that I think about it, Noelle and co's ordeal would be much more dangerous than ours. Ironic, really, the job seemed so peaceful.

Reed Alexander

(note: Heyo, a snake monster! Welcome to the start of a new arc that takes up the rest of part two in the story. Oarmystasis, or Ormy, is the instigator who leads Ragido and his friends across the world.

Design wise, he's a simple dude, really. The paddles came to me during a class, and while it's nothing exquisite, I've grown to be rather fond of the idea, fits the motif rather nicely of a mysterious traveler of the sea. The idea for the tongue was taken from a hollow in Bleach, and the solid venom under sound, was from an episode of The Big Bang theory.

Snakes. . . they aren't done often, are they? I mean, there's D-War, but you and I both know how that went. . . and serpent wise, the movie have been lacking. Manda is close but technically is a dragon (Ormie is technically my Manda now that I think about it. . .) so it's not quite the same. One movie had a giant sea snake, but there's plenty enough in saying that I don't remember what movie it's in! And Gamera. . .Gamera almost had Garasharp. . . .

Snakes are. . .ordinary. (with a few exceptions. :iconrendragonclaw: main monster Shimaku, for one, is the icing on the awesomecake). There's typically not much to say about them combat wise. They typically only bite for self defense, and that stereotypically kills, not befitting a monster universe where there needs to be some brawling regularly and just killing an opponent is boring storytelling. So, in order to be creative, you've gotta play around with different ideas.

One thing I have to say is that snakes aren't evil. I'm a professed Christian and I'll tell you that it's not true. While they evoke an instinctual fear when one spots one, it's usually small and most snakes I've found in the wild either slithered away like mad or were too torpid to react to me. My folks say I got bit by one as a tyke, but I remember nothing about it and take their word for it.
