Ronis

Ronis, the wanderer. A creature of austere power and indomitable will, and a creature I owe my life to. It's a story I'm not overly fond of reminiscing about, but since it is a necessary part of these studies to include as much as we know, and I'm the one who knows the most, I must tell.

I was once an INTERPOL agent, and my job was to handle international issues and fallacies by people who 'jumped' borders to seek solace. My life was secure, interesting, and I had no problems to speak of. And one day, a plane I was on crashed over Indonesia. I was stranded on a remote island for what felt like an eternity. I know it sounds an awful lot like something you'd find in a movie, but there were a few differences. One, I'm not that organized or great at math, and, uh, well.... I didn't ever start hearing voices. It must have not been that long.

All I know is that I earned a new respect for survival. It's surprising, what you would do to survive. Made me question some of the orders I had to carry out, whether I was doing the right thing or not. But, anyway, that's not what I'm supposed to be writing about.

While there on whatever heaven forsaken hole that was, eating was gradually becoming harder. I admit, I over consumed the fruit on the island, and fish were... difficult. So, my attention was turned to, a word Frank taught me, the fauna of the island. They were mostly crustaceans, a few mammals. Catching them took patience, but eating was rewarding due to that. Well, anyway, there was one particular animal that evaded all my efforts to catch him. It was a little crab that I swear was as smart as they come. He climbed trees and made it impossible to reach him, much to my starving self's chagrin.

My life continued like this, until the night the comet crash happened. I didn't know what the heck it was at the time, all I knew was that the coastal waters glowed at night and made sleep harder. It was annoying, but livable.

Well, one day, a chunk of said comet floated ashore, about the size of a coconut. It was white, no, closer to clear, and it hummed an odd tone unlike any I've ever heard. I'm sure someone who knew music would know, but, I can't describe it now.

Well, one creature in particular had in an interest in the rock shaped like it's favorite food. That little crab, who I was determined to catch at that time. It crawled up to it, me right behind, home made spear at the ready. But, things suddenly changed. When it cracked open the rock, (it must have been pretty brittle) suddenly, it started glowing. And.... growing as well. As in, within an hour it was probably bigger than the plane I was in that crashed.

Attaining the new size, the big guy began to move in confusion, crossing across the shallow seas that stretched endlessly in all directions. I immediately climbed up one of his craggy legs and stowed away in a nook of his carapace, knowing that wherever he was going was better than where I was. Little did I know I was going for a ride of my life, with stops in scenic Singapore and ending up in Osaka Japan, with the crab fighting at both stops with me still on his shell. The first fight was against that big croc Ragido, and the second... well, that Salamander nearly cooked us alive.....

Well, anyway, that is my, and Ronis' story. Ronis, a portmanteau of 'Ronin' and 'islands', was a wandering creature, making his way from island to island in search of a place to 'settle down.' At one point, he found a mate, but circumstances ruined that. Now, he fights under the croc, a loyal warrior of power, fortitude, and, well.... to proect what matters to him, namely his sole surviving child, Daima, he will let nothing stand in his way. I owe him my life, and let me say, so do many. That's why he's my favorite.

4/2/10 note: Changed him just from a big crab into a sort of crab centaur critter to give him a kaiju feel of his own. I like it myself. :D
