ABILITIES:

-Magnetic Distortion: A powerful side effect of the experiment that mutated the bear, Giganuuk is a walking supermagnet, powerful enough to literally tug the earth’s magnetic field behind as it walks, inflicting cataclysmic weather upon whatever world he should traipse. Another potent effect of this is the bear’s ability to sense the electrical distortions created by organisms, allowing it to see in all directions and sense all movement, maximizing awareness. The aura generated by it at times is so thick it dulls incoming blows and induces nausea and shock in even mega monster size organisms. Finally, the magnetism has shown to be weaponized as well, absorbing energy and releasing it from the body at enemies. This is not unlimited, though, for the more energy the bear releases the weaker it gradually becomes and the less pull on the atmosphere.

-High Regeneration: A trait found in many of the larger monsters, Giganuuk’s mysterious cells possess an extremely vivacious reproduction rate, restoring flesh wounds in a fraction of the known record of time, allowing the bear to fight longer and harder. The armored segments seem to be made from a buildup of dead cells, so in a way they are capable of a much slower regeneration process of their own.

-Superior Strength: Giganuuk’s hardened anatomy endows expectations of incredible strength to begin with, but multiple evidential encounters show that the strength the bear exhibits is far beyond what should be physically possible, even for its size and mass.

WEAKNESSES:

-Magnetic Distortion: Though the ability to heavily radiate matter is handy, at times it can be a true curse. Sometimes the body of the bear can become unstable from his own radiation, fluctuating in and out of a solid state. At other times the magnetism can drain and leave the bear vulnerable to some attacks it wouldn’t be otherwise.

-Sinker: Giganuuk tends to avoid water for the simple reason that it is not built to swim. Most areas where it is the water is deep frozen, though, so this rarely is able to be utilized.

-Making no Sense: Giganuuk lacks the normal sensory organs of an organism on earth, utilizing ‘magnet vision’ to make out shapes. This can be used against it by utilizing magnetic technology in kind or by strikes of random lightning, which can send the bear into a blinded rage.


History: Created via a sabotaged extremist experiment in the Arctic Circle at the hands of the near mythical Men of Prominence, Giganuuk emerged on Christmas Day of the year 2017 in Toronto Canada and spent the next week marching southward, creating worldwide natural disasters at an apocalyptic scale which completely erased the accuracy of the modern map. It was known as the Great White Night, a weeklong rampage of endless stormclouds that blocked out even the sun, that changed everything.

Ten years later, the world map has completely been redrawn, Giganuuk itself having settled into the center of the city once called Chicago and becoming, in effect, the planet’s new North Pole. Encased in an icy fortress, a small group of people calling themselves Borealis have made it their mission to rid the world of the bear and return a natural order of things to the earth, though their efforts have thus far bore no fruit.

Giganuuk is a matter of mystery as to classification and science in general, exhibiting traits not found on earth. While conclusively animate, it is impossible to distinguish the organic and the inorganic under study, making the beast a major natural anomaly and leaving the only fitting description as simply a monster into place. The only mega monster truly indigenous to the earth, Giganuuk is unchallenged mostly save by Borealis, though the magnetic storm generated by the bear opened many dimensional pockets, allowing creatures from planes not our own to slip through the cracks. The bear can now be found in the icy chrysalis that appeared around it at the end of the White Night, which somehow serves to keep it’s unstoppable energy from endlessly radiating forth, it is only a matter of time before it should roam again, and thus bring the world unto more change.

And here you all are, a midnite oil induced treat, the start of my alternate kaijuverse, faithfully named Altered Dimensions. Giganuuk is easily one of my better ideas, I have never doubted that, so for this new go-round I thought I would give him more time to shine and be polished into a new, cooler look.

Giganuuk essentially is the Godzilla of this 'verse, in more ways than one, and will prove his menace and his mettle (technically its genderless but he just comes more naturally to say when being informal) time and time again.

He was largely in this story's case written to cover a question we've all thought at some point or another. 'What if Goji inflicted bad end upon us all instead of saving us like he usually does?' It hit me that Goji could bring an apocalypse easily if enraged enough, so I did a similar route with the bear, and now mankind's remnants are recovering and managing, which is a large portion of the story.
